How to Volunteer

Please note changes below to our sign-up process effective for the March 2012 Events Calendar.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering as a family with our organization! Our volunteer opportunities are posted monthly. Opportunities for the next month are usually posted during the third week of the previous month. We also occasionally post new opportunities at other times during the month.

Please follow the below steps to volunteer as a family with us:

VIEW IT!

Go to our Events Calendar to view our volunteer opportunities. You can select each volunteer activity from the calendar to view a full description.

SIGN UP!

Sign-ups are on a first-come-first-served basis. To sign up for an activity, simply click on the VolunteerSpot icon located at the bottom of each activity page. After verifying your email address, VolunteerSpot will direct you to our sign-up calendar where you will then be able to reserve volunteer spots for you and your child/children that month. Please note that, unless otherwise noted, sign-ups are one spot per family member. Example: mom, dad and one child = 3 spots. Please also indicate the age/s of your child/children in the appropriate field(s).

VolunteerSpot will send you a confirmation email once you’ve reserved your spots. We recommend that you bookmark your VolunteerSpot sign-up calendar so you can easily go back into it to view your reservation, make any changes, or sign-up for any new opportunities posted that month. Our sign-up calendar link will change monthly.

Because of the high demand for our family volunteering activities and to try to give as many families as possible the opportunity to volunteer together, we kindly request that families sign up for no more than two activities per month. In addition, we request that all sign-ups are done by families individually and that you do not sign up on behalf of other families/groups. To learn more about how we can assist volunteer groups (i.e., multiple families, mom’s groups, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, etc.), please review our Groups web page.

NOTE: If spots are full and you want to placed on the waiting list for any cancellations, please send an email request to grace@littlehelpinghands.org.

SHOW UP!

Once you’ve reserved your spots, additional information will be e-mailed to you the week of the scheduled activity along with a Little Helping Hands permission slip to complete and bring with you to the activity. The permission slip will only need to be completed once as it covers all Little Helping Hands activities in which you and your child/children participate. In addition, you may be required to complete release forms from our partner organizations.
